The Half Moon Bay Coastside Foundation dba San Francisco Peninsula Fire Safe Council, is a 501(c)3 non profit.

Within San Mateo County, 40,500 homes are classified at being high to extreme risk of complex wildfire damage. This extreme risk also extends to the Peninsula’s Hetch Hetchy Crystal Spring reservoirs and water supply system.
A catastrophic wildfire will cause irreversible damage to our reservoirs, destroy our homes, economy and deeply impact our way of life for decades to come.

As a result, protection of our properties and our precious water supply has fallen prey to San Francisco’s looting our Bay Area region’s water system revenues and Sen. Dianne Feinstein and Speaker Nancy Pelosi blocking any Hetch Hetchy rent increases to fund the desperately needed Yosemite National Park Fuel Management Plan. Bay Area residents SOMEHOW trust that we may “get lucky”. Fires don’t discriminate! A fire in San Mateo County’s watershed is not a matter of “IF” but “WHEN”!

We are dedicated to the advocacy of the Monterey Bay National Marine Sanctuary. We are a coalition member of the Water Quality Protection Program (WQPP) that endeavors to preserve and protect the 2.6 million Bay Area Water User’s San Francisco Peninsula Watershed’s Hetch Hetchy reservoirs, and marine and watershed resources within its boundaries. In the year 2000, Half Moon Bay Coastside Foundation was invited by the California Fire Safe Council, to become the first private sector community based non-profit charitable organization to represent the San Francisco Peninsula “wildland areas” located entirely in the County of San Mateo.
